LETTSWORTH, La. — A fatal crash early Wednesday morning in Pointe Coupee Parish left one person dead following a single-vehicle accident on Highway 1.
According to the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 18 in Lettsworth. Authorities said the crash involved one vehicle.
Investigators reported that the driver was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 67-year-old Chris James of Mansura, Louisiana.
The Pointe Coupee Parish Coroner’s Office also responded to the crash. Officials said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death.
At this time, authorities have not released additional details about what may have led to the crash. Deputies continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
