MESA COUNTY, Colo. — Authorities have identified the inmate who died inside the Mesa County Detention Facility earlier this week. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office confirmed the deceased as Jean Treadwell, 55, of Parachute.
Treadwell was found unresponsive in her cell on Tuesday. Despite life-saving efforts by detention staff, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner’s office completed an autopsy and reported that there were no injuries that contributed to her death. Officials are awaiting the results of additional studies before determining the official cause and manner of death.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding Treadwell’s death. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
