ANTHELOPE VALLEY, Calif. — Authorities have identified Carl Grillmair, 67, of Llano, as the man who was fatally shot at his home on the 30700 block of 165th Street East in Llano on February 16. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.
Grillmair worked as a research scientist at the California Institute of Technology’s Infrared Processing and Analysis Center (IPAC), where he was known for his contributions to NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope and his research on stellar streams and exoplanets.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies responded around 6:10 a.m. Monday following reports of a shooting. Grillmair was pronounced dead at the scene. No suspect information has been released, and no arrests have been made.
