Three Found Dead in Summersville Home; Police Investigating Apparent Murder-Suicide

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. — The Summersville Police Department has identified three people found dead inside a home Thursday evening in what authorities believe to be a double murder-suicide.

Police Chief Brad Reed said officers were dispatched around 5 p.m. to a residence along Ashley Lane in the Tara Estates subdivision after a 911 call reported three individuals who were unconscious, unresponsive and suffering from severe head trauma.

Officers with the Summersville Police Department and the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and discovered all three individuals deceased.

Authorities identified the individuals as Dawn Morrow; Nancy Lindwedel; and Douglas Morrow.

According to preliminary findings, investigators believe the incident was isolated. Police say it appears Douglas Morrow allegedly shot his wife, Dawn Morrow, and his mother-in-law, Nancy Lindwedel, before turning the gun on himself.

The bodies have been transported to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.

The investigation remains ongoing. Officials have not released additional details at this time.
