OWENSBORO, Ky. — The Daviess County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in a shooting on Todd Bottums Road as David A. Rodgers of Owensboro.
Officials said the incident occurred the morning of February 19, 2026. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:54 a.m. to a reported shooting in the 7700 block of Todd Bottums Road near Utica. Initial reports indicated a 40-year-old male had shot himself.
When deputies and emergency personnel arrived, they located Rodgers deceased in the yard of the residence. Preliminary findings indicate the death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Assisting agencies included the Daviess County Fire Department, Masonville Fire Department, and AMR. Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, with both the Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office actively reviewing the circumstances surrounding Rodgers’ death.
