Mother and Daughter Killed in Theodore Train Collision

THEODORE, Mobile, AL — A mother and her 8-year-old daughter were tragically killed Saturday morning when their vehicle was struck by an Amtrak train near Cary Hamilton Road in Theodore, Mobile, Alabama. Authorities have confirmed that 31-year-old Brittany Williams and her young daughter were pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency crews, including the Mobile Police Department and local firefighters, responded shortly before 7 a.m. and discovered the car heavily damaged after being hit by the train. Officials confirmed that the train, which was traveling toward Mobile, did not have any passengers or crew injured during the collision.

Investigators reported that all railroad crossing safety features—including warning lights, audible signals, and crossing arms—were functioning properly at the time of the crash. Witnesses told authorities that the vehicle drove onto the tracks despite the active warnings. The train traveled more than 2,000 feet after the collision before coming to a stop.

The area was closed for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the wreckage.
