GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. – Authorities in Greenville County are actively searching for a man identified by the victim’s family as Devante, who fatally attacked a woman early Friday morning.
Deputies said a 911 call came in shortly after midnight reporting an assault at a home on West Parker Road. When officers arrived, they found a woman with visible traumatic injuries. Emergency responders confirmed that the victim, 23-year-old Trycina Nichole Whitehurst, had passed away.
The Greenville County coroner’s office confirmed that Whitehurst died from a gunshot wound and ruled her death a homicide. Investigators described the assault as an isolated incident and said that Whitehurst and Devante knew each other.
Authorities have said that efforts to locate Devante have so far been unsuccessful. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
