In Loving Memory of Michael Alvarez

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Hamilton Township community is mourning the loss of Michael Alvarez, 44, of Egg Harbor Township, who tragically passed away in a pedestrian crash on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Authorities say Alvarez was crossing Route 40 near Cantillon Boulevard when he was struck by a westbound Chevrolet Equinox. He was then struck by an eastbound Ford Fusion. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, Alvarez suffered fatal injuries.

Both drivers remained on the scene, and no other injuries were reported. The roadway was closed for several hours as police investigated the crash.

The Hamilton Township Police Department, along with the Hamilton Township Rescue Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics, Mays Landing Fire Department, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation, worked to respond to the incident.
