Florence, Ala. — The Florence community is mourning the tragic loss of Ronald Lumbus, 60, of Florence, Alabama, who was found deceased in the parking lot of St. James Missionary Baptist Church early Tuesday morning, January 13, 2026.
According to authorities, Florence Police officers responded at approximately 6:50 a.m. to a call reporting a deceased male at the church, located in the 300 block of Wallace Street. Day B Patrol officers secured the area as a crime scene, and the Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the investigation. At this time, no additional details regarding the cause of death or circumstances surrounding the incident have been released.
