The Harris County community is mourning the tragic loss of Julio Alberto Calero Ramirez, 25, who died early Saturday morning following a wrong-way crash on Tomball Parkway in northwest Harris County.
According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, deputies arrived at the scene around 1:30 a.m. and discovered a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Calero Ramirez was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes when his vehicle collided head-on with another car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies were able to assist the other driver, who sustained injuries, and paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Several deputies also sustained minor injuries while responding to the crash and were evaluated at the scene.
The crash caused significant traffic delays as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities continue to investigate the tragic event.
