ELYRIA, Ohio — The Elyria community is mourning the loss of Tiffany Kunc, 34, who passed away Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle along West River Road South, according to local authorities.
Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 7:30 p.m. on January 17 to the 6700 block of West River Road South following reports of a possible pedestrian crash. Upon arrival, officers found Kunc lying in the snow and unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later reviewed surveillance video from the area, which confirmed that Kunc had been struck by a vehicle that did not stop following the incident. Police were subsequently able to locate the suspected vehicle at a residence in Lorain.
Authorities executed a search warrant at the home and seized the vehicle along with additional evidence. The man driving the vehicle at the time told officers he believed he had struck a deer.
Police stated that impairment due to drugs or alcohol is not believed to have contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing, and any potential criminal charges will be determined pending the final outcome of the investigation.
