JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. — The Jefferson County community is mourning the tragic loss of Roderick Moore Jr., 29, of Bessemer, who died Sunday evening, January 18, 2026, following a shooting in western Jefferson County.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 6:44 p.m. to the 6600 block of Avenue K in Lipscomb after reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers found Moore wounded. He was immediately transported by Lipscomb Fire and Rescue to Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Despite life-saving efforts, Moore was pronounced dead at the hospital at 7:20 p.m.
Moore’s passing has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and community. Those who knew him remember him for the moments, memories, and impact he shared during his life. Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
