Active Shooter Incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School; Shooter Found Deceased

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — The RCMP have confirmed an active shooter incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in the northern B.C. community of Tumbler Ridge, northeast of Prince George. The incident began around 1:20 p.m., and a localized police emergency alert was issued at 3:16 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities report that the original suspect has been found deceased. Police are not confirming whether a second suspect is involved, nor are they providing details on any injuries at this time.

Residents in the Tumbler Ridge area are urged to shelter in place, lock doors, and avoid leaving homes or businesses. All others are advised to stay clear of the area and follow police directions and restrictions. The RCMP emphasized: do not approach the scene and call 911 for any relevant information.

Additional resources, including officers from neighboring detachments and the North District Emergency Response Team, have been deployed to the area. Police continue to investigate the situation, including determining whether additional suspects or victims are involved.

The RCMP said work is ongoing and updates will be provided as information becomes available.
