Ashburn Mourns Stone Bridge High School Student Killed in Tragic Pedestrian Crash

ASHBURN, Va. — The Ashburn community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Calina Yu, a 20-year-old Stone Bridge High School student who was tragically killed after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday morning, January 13, 2026.

The fatal crash occurred around 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of Claiborne Parkway and Portsmouth Boulevard, near Stone Bridge High School. Loudoun County Fire and Rescue and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, where Calina was pronounced dead.

Authorities confirmed the vehicle involved was an LCPS maintenance truck driven by an LCPS employee, who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

In the wake of the tragedy, flowers and stuffed animals have been placed near the intersection as a memorial, symbolizing the grief shared by classmates, educators, and neighbors. School and community leaders have encouraged students and families to seek counseling and support services being offered at Stone Bridge High School.

As Ashburn grieves, the community stands united in honoring Calina Yu’s memory and offering thoughts, prayers, and compassion to her family, friends, and all those impacted by this devastating loss.
