LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. — A family and community are mourning the tragic loss of Cayden Callihan, an 18-year-old from North Carolina, who died late Friday night following a devastating two-vehicle crash in Livingston Parish.
According to Louisiana State Police, troopers responded shortly before midnight to the scene at the intersection of LA 1032 and Hunter’s Way. Upon arrival, they discovered a collision involving a 2008 Honda Accord and a 2022 Ford F-150.
Investigators determined that Cayden was traveling east on Hunter’s Way as he approached LA 1032. At the same time, the Ford F-150 was traveling south on LA 1032. For reasons still under investigation, Cayden attempted to make a left turn onto LA 1032, entering the path of the oncoming truck. The Ford struck the Honda on its left side.
State police confirmed that both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the crash. Cayden suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-150 sustained minor injuries.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
As loved ones grieve, Cayden is remembered not just for the circumstances of his passing, but for the life he lived and the future that was tragically taken too soon.
