Dive Team Recovers Missing Man from Sacramento River After Police Pursuit

Decedent Recovered from Sacramento River Identified as Missing Redding Man

REDDING, Calif. — Authorities have identified the man recovered from the Sacramento River on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, as 37-year-old Alex Abrams of Redding.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team was requested by the Redding Police Department to assist in recovering a deceased individual from the river. The Dive Team responded to the Kutras Boat Ramp on Park Marina Drive and traveled by boat to a location north of the Highway 44 overpass and south of the Sundial Bridge near an area known as “the Bluffs.”

Dive Team members located an adult male submerged in the water and determined he was beyond lifesaving measures. The individual was recovered and transported back to the boat launch, where he was released to the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities confirmed the man as Alex Abrams, who had been reported missing after allegedly fleeing into the Sacramento River during a pursuit involving Redding Police Department officers on February 8, 2026.

Abrams’ next of kin have been notified. A postmortem examination is scheduled as part of the ongoing investigation.

Officials have not released additional details at this time.
