Donovan Encinia, 18, Identified as Victim in Fatal Secretariat Drive Shooting

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim in Monday afternoon’s fatal shooting on the 1900 block of Secretariat Drive as 18-year-old Donovan Encinia.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 3 p.m. on February 16, 2026. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Encinia suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began administering first aid.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

Police said the shooting stemmed from a disturbance involving services being performed at the home. “It was later determined that there was a disturbance over services rendered and a weapon was produced,” said Madeleine Commons, Public Information Officer for the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Authorities detained at least two individuals for questioning, including witnesses who were at the scene. They were taken to the department’s main station to be interviewed by detectives with the criminal investigations division.

Investigators noted that at least 12 shell casings were visible at the scene. Officials have not yet determined who fired the weapon or whether Encinia was the worker or the homeowner. Police also have not confirmed if a weapon was recovered.

Officials say the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the neighborhood. The investigation remains active, and charges will depend on the outcome of continued interviews and evidence review.
