Elderly Woman Found Dead After Stolen SUV Chase Leads to Homicide Investigation in Youngsville

YOUNGSVILLE, La.  — A police chase involving a stolen SUV in Youngsville has led authorities to a homicide investigation following the death of an elderly woman.

The victim has been identified as Thelma Thibeaux, 70, of Youngsville.

According to the Youngsville Police Department, officers received a report around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 6, of an SUV stolen from a residence on 4th Street. Shortly after locating the vehicle, police attempted to stop the suspect, who fled, leading officers on a brief pursuit.

The suspect, Dylan Green, 20, was eventually taken into custody. He has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated flight from an officer, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Police said that shortly after Green’s arrest, they received another call reporting an unresponsive woman at the same 4th Street residence where the SUV had been reported stolen. Responding officers discovered Thibeaux deceased inside the home.

Authorities confirmed the death is being investigated as a homicide. No additional details have been released at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
