Avon — The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department released details regarding a fatal crash that occurred at noon today in Avon.
According to multiple eyewitnesses, a Freightliner semi-truck with a trailer was traveling eastbound on US 36 when it ran a red light at the intersection of CR 525E, striking a northbound Chevrolet pickup truck. The force of the collision caused the pickup to travel across the grass median and collide with a stationary Chrysler Sebring in the westbound left-turn lane of US 36.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, Terry Schultz, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crash reconstruction specialists remain on site conducting a detailed investigation, and the intersection is partially closed while authorities continue their work.
