EL PASO, Texas — Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred Thursday night at an East El Paso intersection.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 8:36 p.m. on February 5, 2026, to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Eastlake Boulevard and Blingwood Street. Upon arrival, deputies found the crash involved serious injuries and requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators (STI), who took over the investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate that a silver Audi was traveling westbound on Eastlake Boulevard when a blue Nissan SUV traveling eastbound attempted to make a left turn onto Blingwood Street. Authorities said the Nissan failed to yield the right of way, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.
A 53-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. She has been identified as Virginia Striplin of El Paso, Texas. Next of kin has been notified.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
