GILES COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Sunday night on Interstate 65.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, they discovered the crash resulted from a shooting involving the vehicle’s occupants.
The driver, Sfenson Simeus, 26, of Lake Worth, Florida, was fatally shot and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, Elda Simeus, 23, of Plainfield, Indiana, also sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital, where she is currently listed in stable condition.
Sheriff Joe Purvis stated, “This was a senseless and cowardly act of violence. The Sheriff’s Office is fully committed to identifying and apprehending the individual responsible and ensuring justice for the Simeus family.”
Sheriff’s investigators have secured the scene and are actively processing evidence. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Giles County Sheriff’s Office at 931-363-3505.
