Apparent bloody footprints were visible in the snow along Connecticut Avenue near McDonald Park on Monday morning, February 16, 2026, as police continued investigating a deadly shooting that occurred the night before.
The New London Police Department confirmed that officers responded Sunday, February 15, at approximately 7:19 p.m. to reports of gunfire on Connecticut Avenue between Prest Street and MacDonald Street in New London.
Upon arrival, officers located Gregory Williams, 42, of New London, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. Authorities confirmed that proper notification has been made to his next of kin.
In a statement, the department extended its deepest condolences to Williams’ family, friends, and all those affected by what officials described as a senseless act of violence.
