Gabryel Ayres Identified as Victim in Chicago Shooting

CHICAGO, Ill. — On February 4, 2026, Chicago police launched an investigation into a deadly shooting that claimed the life of Gabryel Ayres following a violent attack on the city’s South Side.

The shooting occurred near 79th Street, where video circulating on social media shows four armed suspects firing multiple shots at a white car. Authorities said the vehicle was struck by gunfire and crashed into a nearby van moments later.

Police confirmed that Gabryel Ayres, a female passenger inside the white car, was shot and pronounced deceased. A male victim in the vehicle suffered gunshot wounds and remains in critical condition. A child was also inside the car at the time of the shooting but was not injured, according to preliminary reports.

Witnesses stated that an SUV pulled alongside the white car before gunfire erupted. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

No arrests have been made. Chicago police continue to review video evidence and interview witnesses as the investigation remains ongoing.
