GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — The Greensboro Police Department is investigating its first homicide of the year after a man was found dead Monday in the city.
Officers with the GPD’s Crimes Against Persons Squad responded to the 5600 block of Hornaday Road after receiving a report of a missing person. When they arrived, officers located the missing man, identified as Alexander Michael Reichman, 42, inside a tent. Police said Reichman appeared to have suffered traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives later identified a witness who told investigators that an assault had allegedly taken place between Reichman and Jonathan David Huskins, 38.
Police located Huskins and took him into custody on an unrelated warrant. Court records show Huskins was initially charged with failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. While Huskins was being detained on that charge, investigators said they developed probable cause to charge him in connection with Reichman’s death.
As a result, Huskins has now been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond, police said.
Authorities stated they are not seeking any additional suspects at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
