DOTHAN, Ala. — A tragic incident early Saturday morning claimed the life of a Hartford man who was struck while walking along a busy highway in Geneva County.
Geneva County Coroner Donny Adkinson identified the victim as 52-year-old Richard Williams Jr. Williams was hit while walking along East Highway 52 in Hartford around 12:30 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the coroner, a 911 call had been made shortly before the crash, reporting a man walking in the roadway. Responding agencies included the Hartford Police Department, Geneva County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Hartford Fire and Rescue, and the Geneva County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the incident. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the factors that led to this fatal accident.
