In Loving Memory: Licensed Mental Health Counselor Rebecca White Fatally Stabbed in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County community is mourning the tragic loss of Rebecca White, 44, a licensed mental health counselor, who was fatally stabbed at her counseling office late Monday night, January 19, 2026.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. at an office in the 900 block of Lee Road. Authorities reported that Rebecca was attacked by a former client, later identified as Michael Smith, after she refused him entry into the office. During the attack, a man in his 30s, who had been in a therapy session with White earlier, attempted to intervene and was also stabbed. He called 911 and was transported to a hospital, where he underwent surgery and is expected to recover.

Rebecca White was rushed to the hospital following the attack but was later pronounced dead. She is remembered by colleagues, clients, and the community as a dedicated professional who devoted her life to helping others.

Investigators later located the suspect, Michael Smith, deceased from an apparent suicide on the morning of January 20. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
