In Loving Memory: Morgan County Mourns the Loss of 15-Year-Old Adelisa “Addy” Rose Johnson

MORGAN COUNTY, Ill. — Morgan County is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Adelisa “Addy” Rose Johnson, 15, who died in a tragic single-vehicle crash Friday evening.

According to the Morgan County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on January 23 at the intersection of Mt. Zion Road and Gravel Springs Road. Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling east when it left the roadway and rolled over.

Addy, who was a backseat passenger, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity was initially withheld pending notification of family and was confirmed Saturday morning in a statement released by the coroner’s office.

Three other occupants in the vehicle were injured. Authorities have not released updates on their conditions.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, and the cause and manner of death have not yet been made public.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Morgan County Coroner’s Office. Officials say additional information will be released as it becomes available.

As the community grieves this devastating loss, Addy is being remembered for her youth, her bright spirit, and the love she shared with those around her. Family, friends, and loved ones continue to mourn a life gone far too soon.
