CORALVILLE, Iowa — The Coralville community, along with colleagues across the medical and scientific fields, is mourning the tragic loss of Amber Nicole Martin, 41, who died following a fatal stabbing at her home on the morning of January 16.
Police were called to a Coralville residence shortly after 6:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found Amber suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by responding officers, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have charged her husband, James Fuller Martin, 47, with first-degree murder in connection with her death. The investigation remains ongoing.
Amber was a highly respected Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor of Microbiology at University of Iowa Health Care. She previously served as Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist in Microbiology at Quincy Medical Group. Colleagues remember her as a dedicated professional whose work and leadership made a lasting impact in the medical community.
Originally from Bowling Green, Missouri, Amber relocated to Iowa in August 2025. Her sudden and violent passing has left family, friends, coworkers, and loved ones devastated.
As the community grieves, heartfelt condolences and prayers continue to pour in for those who knew and loved Amber. Her legacy of dedication, compassion, and service to others will not be forgotten.
