In Loving Memory of Bradley Bassett

POCATELLO, ID — The Pocatello community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Bradley Bassett, 51, who passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, after his vehicle collided with a detached semi-trailer on US Highway 30.

According to the Bannock County Coroner, Torey Danner, Bassett, a resident of Pocatello, was traveling westbound in a silver Mercury Grand Marquis when a 2024 Freightliner semi-truck traveling eastbound experienced a mechanical failure. The truck’s single trailer detached from the cab and came to rest in the middle of the highway, completely blocking the westbound lane. Bassett’s vehicle collided directly with the stationary trailer, and he sustained fatal injuries, being pronounced dead at the scene.

Coroner Danner confirmed Bassett’s identity and noted that his next of kin have been notified, offering condolences to the family. “My thoughts are with Bradley’s family and friends during this time of loss,” Danner said. The exact cause of the trailer’s disconnection has not yet been released, and the Idaho State Police continue to investigate the crash.

Family, friends, and the community are deeply grieving Bassett’s passing. He is remembered as a valued member of Pocatello whose sudden loss leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.

Bradley Bassett’s life and spirit will be cherished and remembered. The community extends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
