In Loving Memory of Christopher David De La Corte

TUCSON, Ariz. — With heavy hearts, family, friends, and the Tucson community mourn the loss of 34-year-old Christopher David De La Corte, who passed away Monday after being struck by an SUV.

According to the Tucson Police Department, the crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of South Park Avenue, near Ajo Way and Historic U.S. 80. De La Corte was in the northbound median lane when he was hit by a 2016 Dodge Durango traveling at approximately the posted speed limit. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he later succumbed to those injuries.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. A DUI Unit officer confirmed the driver was not impaired. Investigators noted that De La Corte was not in a marked or implied crosswalk at the time of the crash. Illegal drugs and paraphernalia were found in his possession, though authorities could not determine if impairment played a role.

Family, friends, and neighbors remember De La Corte as a valued member of the Tucson community. His untimely passing leaves a deep void for those who knew him, and the loss is felt across the city. Tucson police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
