In Loving Memory of Dana Marie Kinlaw

EFFINGHAM, S.C. — The community is mourning the tragic and disturbing loss of Dana Marie Kinlaw, 40, of Olanta, whose life was taken in a homicide currently under investigation by local authorities.

According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the Florence County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred on the evening of January 22, 2026, on Atlantic Road in Effingham. Responding deputies and emergency personnel discovered a vehicle that had been completely consumed by fire. Inside the burned vehicle, investigators located the body of Kinlaw.

Authorities have confirmed that her death is being treated as a homicide. Kinlaw’s body is scheduled to undergo an autopsy next week at the Medical University of South Carolina, which is expected to provide further insight into the cause and manner of death.
