MODOC, S.C. – The Modoc community is grieving the loss of Donna Scott Lackey, 75, who tragically passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, following a crash in McCormick County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. on South Main Street near U.S. Highway 221. Authorities say Ms. Lackey’s vehicle went off one side of the road, overcorrected, and traveled down an embankment before crashing. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but she succumbed to her injuries.
The McCormick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Ms. Lackey’s identity. No additional injuries were reported, and authorities continue to investigate the crash.
