In Loving Memory of Douglas and Tiffany Stewart

PARK RAPIDS, Minn. — The north-central Minnesota community is mourning the tragic loss of Douglas Stewart, 61, and his wife, Tiffany Stewart, 42, who died Friday morning, January . 30, 2026, in a collision involving a train in rural Hubbard County.

According to the sheriff’s office, just before 10 a.m., a 911 call was received from the train conductor after the BNSF Railway train struck the Stewarts’ SUV at a rail crossing west of Cass Lake. Investigators reported that Douglas Stewart had stopped at the crossing but subsequently proceeded across the tracks and was struck by the train. Both Douglas and Tiffany Stewart were pronounced dead at the scene.

The train conductor, who is from Kempton, North Dakota, was unharmed, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
