ORTLEY, S.D. — With heavy hearts, family, friends, and the Ortley community mourn the tragic loss of 36-year-old Eliseo Gomez of Summit, South Dakota, who died in a single-vehicle crash southeast of Ortley.
Authorities report that Gomez was traveling south on 452nd Avenue near 147th Street when he lost control of his vehicle and partially entered the east ditch. In an attempt to correct, his vehicle rolled and came to rest in the west ditch. Gomez was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
