JACKSON, Mich. – The Jackson community is grieving the tragic loss of Isaiah Ramos-Bostwick, 16, who was fatally shot early Thursday in a home on Harris Street.
Police responded around 1 a.m. to the 500 block of Harris Street, where they found Isaiah suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries, leaving family, friends, and the neighborhood in deep mourning.
Two teenage suspects fled the scene but were later apprehended. A 13-year-old suspect has been lodged at the Jackson County Youth Center and faces a petition for open murder, while a 15-year-old suspect was released to a parent’s custody. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the fatal shooting.
Neighbors expressed shock at the incident in what they described as a quiet, close-knit neighborhood. “I’ve seen him getting on the school bus every day,” said Alexis Wilson, who lives nearby. “He’d walk up and down the street with his sister, laughing and smiling… friendly kids. No drama here. This was a good neighborhood to grow up in.”
Jackson Police Chief Chris Simpson acknowledged the devastating impact on the community. “When it’s 16 years old, we know that there’s usually a lot more life left at the age of 16,” he said. “It is a tragedy, and I’m sure that the city is mourning.”
Isaiah Ramos-Bostwick’s sudden and violent death has left a profound void in the lives of his loved ones. Friends, family, and neighbors are coming together to grieve, remember, and honor his life. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the fragility of life and the deep consequences of violence.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal shooting and are asking anyone with information to come forward to assist with the case.
