NAMPA, Idaho — The Nampa community is mourning the tragic loss of Israel Castrejon Trejo, 27, who was fatally shot following a traffic-related dispute on Sunday, January 25.
According to the Ada County Coroner, Trejo suffered multiple gunshot wounds during an encounter with another individual. Despite lifesaving efforts by first responders, Trejo was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities confirmed.
Investigators said the incident began as a traffic dispute on Interstate 84 that later escalated in a McDonald’s parking lot. Police allege that 23-year-old Jacob Streat confronted Trejo and fired more than a dozen rounds, killing him. Streat has been arrested and charged with felony second-degree murder in connection with Trejo’s death.
During a Monday arraignment, prosecutors argued that Streat poses a public safety risk, citing the violent nature of the alleged shooting and what the state described as a concerning driving history.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office will present its findings to law enforcement as the investigation continues. Police said the case remains active and ongoing.
Israel Castrejon Trejo’s sudden and violent death has left family members, friends, and the Nampa community grieving a life taken far too soon. Loved ones remember him as someone whose life ended in a senseless act of violence, leaving an immeasurable void for those who knew him.
