BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Blackman-Leoni community is grieving the tragic loss of JaJuan Worthy, 36, of Jackson, and Ashley Connin, 35, of Jonesville, who were found dead on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in a room at the Travelodge on 901 Rosehill Avenue. Both deaths are believed to be the result of a drug overdose.
Officers with the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety responded to a report of a possible overdose and discovered the two victims deceased. A third adult female present was transported to Henry Ford Jackson for treatment related to an overdose.
Investigators determined that the narcotics used by the victims had been obtained from 41-year-old Angela Marie Chapman of Jackson. With assistance from the Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET), Chapman was apprehended later that evening. On January 20, 2026, she was arraigned on two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance Causing Death, along with additional charges.
The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety extends its deepest condolences to the families of Mr. Worthy and Ms. Connin. Their sudden and tragic passing has left the community in mourning. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and further details will be released as they become available.
If you want, I can also make an “In Loving Memory” version that emphasizes the lives of JaJuan Worthy and Ashley Connin and the community’s grief in a more personal, emotional tone. Do you want me to do that?
