ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The St. Louis community is grieving the tragic death of Jardyn Walker, 23, who was fatally shot early Wednesday morning in the Central West End at the 4200 block of Olive Street.
Walker, a young man dedicated to his work at the Amazon Hazelwood plant, had been reported missing Tuesday after he did not show up to meet his sister for a ride home. He was last seen delivering packages in the University City area. His vehicle was later found at the scene of the shooting.

Authorities discovered Walker suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso around 1 a.m. on January 21, 2026. Despite immediate efforts by responding officers and emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A suspect, 27-year-old Jamaal Jones, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and tampering with evidence. Investigators say Jones admitted to firing the weapon, claiming he feared for his life, and shell casings were found in his possession. Witnesses identified Jones as the shooter, and police believe the case may be linked to an earlier shots-fired call in the area.
Jardyn Walker’s passing has left family, friends, and the St. Louis community devastated. He is remembered as a hardworking and valued young man whose life had a positive impact on those around him. Memorials and tributes have formed at the scene, reflecting the community’s grief and the loss of a promising life cut tragically short.
The St. Louis community extends its deepest condolences to Jardyn Walker’s family, friends, and loved ones. May he rest in peace.
