ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. — The Elkhart community is mourning the loss of 17-year-old JayDee Miller of Elkhart, who was killed in a weather-related crash Sunday night in Elkhart County.
According to authorities, the crash occurred just before 10 p.m. on State Road 13, east of Goshen. Police said a van and a semi-truck collided head-on as dangerous snow and ice conditions impacted the roadway.
Investigators determined that the van crossed the center line due to the slick conditions and struck the front end of the semi. JayDee Miller, who was a passenger in the van, was killed in the crash.
The driver of the van sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the semi was not reported to be injured.
The incident remains under investigation, as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.
