Cheyenne, Wyoming — The Cheyenne community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of John Lemmons, a 79-year-old resident whose life was tragically cut short in a traffic collision on Thursday evening.
The fatal crash occurred on January 29, 2026, at approximately 5:58 p.m., at the intersection of Powderhouse Road and East Riding Club Road. According to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, an SUV traveling northbound failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck Mr. Lemmons’ passenger vehicle on the driver’s side. The force of the impact caused the SUV to roll.
Mr. Lemmons suffered critical injuries and, despite the swift response of emergency personnel, was pronounced deceased as a result of those injuries. The driver and passenger of the SUV were both injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have stated that no impairment is suspected, and the Major Crash Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Charges are pending.
