PINSON, Ala. — The community is mourning the tragic loss of Jonah Ray McCay, who died Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle in Pinson.

According to the Center Point Fire District, the fatal incident occurred at Pinson Boulevard at Cedar Street. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that McCay had suffered fatal injuries from the collision. Despite immediate efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the investigation, confirmed that the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with deputies. The crash has prompted the closure of Pinson Boulevard from Walnut Street to Main Street as investigators continue their work.
