In loving memory of Jordan Scott McCormick

PORTUGAL COVE–ST. PHILIPS, NL — The community is grieving the loss of Jordan Scott McCormick, 22, who tragically passed away following an ATV accident on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), the collision occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Windsor Heights. Jordan was operating an ATV when he was involved in a single-vehicle crash. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Authorities confirmed the crash is not believed to be criminal in nature, and Accident Investigation and Forensic Identification Services assisted with the investigation.

Jordan was predeceased by his grandfather, Paul McCormick, and is survived by his beloved girlfriend of nearly five years, Leah (Bug/Pouch Cove) Bugden. He also leaves behind many close friends, including Perros Mathioudakis, Noah (Whitty) Whitten, Joey Arsenault, Alex (O.B.) O’Brien, Griffen (Griff) Joy, Brent Parrell, Frank Griffen, Cody Snelgrove, Riley Snelgrove, and Riley Lodge. Special gratitude is extended to Peter, Elizabeth, and Raymond Mathioudakis and Justine Perry for always welcoming Jordan into their lives and families.

Jordan’s life touched a wide circle of family, great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He loved family, friends, and his three pets, Wiggles, Kielie, and Evee. He cherished summers on the Mira River, time spent outdoors, and had an infectious smile that lit up every room he entered. Known for his curiosity and skill, Jordan loved understanding how things worked and was always willing to help fix things around the home or garage. He worked at Peter’s Pizza, Canadian Tire, and had recently begun a promising career as a plumber with Summit Mechanical Services.

Though his life was far too short, Jordan lived fully and brought joy to everyone around him.

A visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
