PHOENIX — The Phoenix community is grieving the tragic loss of 34-year-old Mariela G. Duarte Gaxiola, who was found dead from a gunshot wound early Thursday morning, January 15, 2026.
According to Phoenix police, officers responded around 1:47 a.m. to reports of an injured person near 67th Avenue and Camelback Road in west Phoenix. Upon arrival, they discovered Ms. Duarte Gaxiola had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Emergency responders from the Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene but were unable to save her. Authorities confirmed her identity through the investigation.
