BEAUMONT, Texas — The Beaumont community is mourning the tragic loss of 23-year-old Marquise Tillman, who was fatally shot Tuesday evening outside an apartment complex in the north end of the city.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. at Pointe North Apartments, 3710 Magnolia Street. Investigators responded to the scene, called for an ID unit, and secured the area with crime scene tape. Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division and a justice of the peace were also notified. The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify and locate at least one suspect in the homicide.
Tillman, a father of three young daughters, was remembered by Asia Washington, the mother of his children, as a “family-oriented young man” who was “one of the funniest people she knew” and “fun to be around.” She shared that he loved his family deeply and would do anything for them, adding, “They are truly hurt and will miss him dearly.” Officer Chancellor Van Houten emphasized the tragedy’s impact, stating, “Those babies are going to have to grow up without a dad. Nothing good comes from this.”
Beaumont Mayor Roy West expressed his condolences, urging the community to support one another and respect the investigation. Officer Van Houten also encouraged anyone with information to come forward, noting that Crime Stoppers allows individuals to remain anonymous.
The Beaumont community extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Marquise Tillman during this profoundly difficult time. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and the city mourns the loss of a young father taken far too soon.
