BESSEMER, Ala. — The Bessemer community is mourning the tragic loss of Roderick Moore Jr., 29, who was fatally shot Sunday evening, January 18, 2026, in Lipscomb, Jefferson County.
Moore was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the 6600 block of Avenue K after deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at 6:44 p.m. Despite being transported by Lipscomb Fire and Rescue to Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Moore was pronounced dead before arriving at the hospital.
His passing has left a profound void in the lives of family, friends, and the Bessemer community. Loved ones remember Moore for his warmth, his spirit, and the connections he shared with those around him. The tragedy has brought the community together in grief, as residents and officials extend support and condolences to his family.
