According to investigators, Timothy was a passenger in a 2012 Nissan Altima involved in a crash on McCartan Road in the Anderson Creek/Bunnlevel area during the early morning hours of Saturday. Authorities believe the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m., when the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a ditch culvert, coming to an abrupt stop. The impact caused catastrophic injuries.

Emergency crews were dispatched at 9:29 a.m., and upon arrival, paramedics pronounced Timothy McLean deceased at the scene. Investigators later determined that speed and the failure to wear seat belts were contributing factors in the fatal crash. Timothy’s injuries proved unsurvivable.

Tragically, Timothy was left at the crash scene, and the driver fled. Investigators later confirmed that Timothy was still alive when he was abandoned, a heartbreaking detail that has deeply shaken those who knew him. Authorities stated that Timothy and the driver were involved in a romantic relationship.

Timothy McLean was a resident of 606 S. 9th Street in Lillington. He is remembered as more than the circumstances of his death — he was a person loved, known, and valued by those around him. His life mattered, and his loss is immeasurable.
