Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Investigating Utility Vehicle Crash That Killed 21-Year-Old

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a utility vehicle crash that claimed the life of 21-year-old Drew Stephens on Sunday night, February 8, in the 8400 block of Fort Caroline Road.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a Ford Escape traveling westbound was rear-ended by a side-by-side utility vehicle, causing the utility vehicle to overturn. All six occupants were ejected from the vehicle as a result of the collision.

Emergency responders from Jacksonville Fire and Rescue transported all six individuals to a local hospital. Drew Stephens, a man in his early twenties, was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital, while another occupant remains in life-threatening condition. Authorities confirmed that the remaining occupants sustained injuries of varying severity.

The sheriff’s office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including vehicle conditions, road factors, and witness statements. Officials are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to assist in the ongoing investigation.

The investigation remains open as authorities work to determine the full cause of this tragic crash.
