LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. — The Livingston Parish community is rallying around Jasmine Newhouse, an 18-year-old woman who remains in critical, life-threatening condition following a shooting early Saturday morning, January 31, 2026.
According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just before 3:00 a.m. to an apartment on Magnolia Beach Road, where they found Jasmine suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she continues to receive intensive medical care.
Family members, friends, and community supporters are lifting Jasmine up in prayer and hope as she fights to recover. Loved ones describe her as a young woman with her entire life ahead of her, whose strength and spirit are being felt by everyone standing beside her during this painful time.
Authorities say a suspect has been taken into custody, and the investigation remains ongoing.
