Jeffrey Decker, 55, of Seward, Illinois, Found Deceased in Cherry Valley

The Cherry Valley, Illinois community is mourning the loss of Jeffrey Decker, a 55-year-old man who was found deceased on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in the 7200 block of CherryVale N. Boulevard near a self-storage facility in Cherry Valley, Illinois.

According to the Cherry Valley Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area at approximately 12:30 p.m. after a resident discovered a man unresponsive at the location. When authorities arrived, Jeffrey Decker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office in Illinois later confirmed Decker’s identity and said he was from Seward, Illinois. Authorities stated that Decker had been living in a tent at the location for some time. Police have emphasized that the death is not considered suspicious, and no foul play is suspected.
