HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal shooting as Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr., 33, of Channelview, Texas, who tragically lost his life on January 28, 2026.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph Plattenburg (born August 7, 1984) and Jordyn Wells (born March 18, 1998) were taken into custody in connection with the shooting death of Gonzalez. Investigators allege the suspects shot Gonzalez during a dispute in which they claimed he owed them money. Both Plattenburg and Wells have been charged with murder and were booked into the Harris County Jail.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office credited the case’s rapid progress to the swift and thorough investigative work of homicide detectives and SWAT, whose efforts led to the arrests.
Beyond the tragic circumstances of his death, Jorge will be remembered first and foremost for the life he lived and the love he shared.
Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr. was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend. He had a deep love for Houston sports teams and found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and close friends. Known for his laughter, loyalty, and big heart, Jorge brought warmth and light into every room he entered. His love was freely given, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved son, Jorge “LJ” Arturo Gonzalez III; his parents, Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Sr. (Beatriz) and Misty Bartolomei (Jorge); his sisters, Amber Castro (Rick), Ashleigh Champagne (John), Alex Gonzalez, and Adriana Gonzalez; and his brother, Arturo Gonzalez.
Jorge also leaves behind his cherished nieces, Angelina Gonzalez (Cesar), Anabella Doria, Melina Guzman, Mackenzie Guzman, and Maddix Tackitt; his nephews, Caden Champagne, Mason Champagne, and Enrique Castro; his great-niece, Mariela Cantu; and his grandmother, Peggy Stansbury (Dan).
Jorge will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.
Visitation services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, located at 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77003. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
